Company Profile:  Third Security, LLC (“Third Security”) is an independent, private equity and venture capital firm formed in 1999 to manage investments in public and private companies. Third Security evaluates opportunities in a wide range of industries, but principally focuses on emerging through late-stage investments in life-sciences and information technology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Prepare complex tax returns and workpapers, including, but not limited to, Forms 1065, 1120 and 1040
• Assist and prepare returns for state and local compliance
• Assist and prepare returns for international compliance
• Maintain fixed asset reports, including book and tax depreciation for several entities using CCH ProSystem Fixed Asset system
• Assist with research and consulting projects
• Help prepare quarterly estimated taxes and year end projections
• Assist with monthly and quarterly G/L accounting, including maintenance of capital accounts
• Maintain tax calendar
• Respond to tax notices
• Assist in management and execution of annual audit with our external auditors
• Assist and provide requested documentation for IRS, state and local examinations
• Provide back-up, as needed to update online investor web tool
• Help prepare quarterly financial reports for outside investors

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required or desired.

• Strong computer/technical skills including, but not limited to:  Excel, ProSystem fx, CCH, BNA and general ledger software
• Strong background in partnership and individual taxation
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of management
• Ability to multi-task and operate with a high sense of urgency

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 3 years public accounting experience
• FAS 109 experience

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSES and/or REGISTRATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related business discipline
• CPA or CPA-eligible
